24 arrested in Ragama

Twenty four persons have been taken into custody in a joint Police – Navy search operation in Ragama on suspicion.
The Police and Navy personnel went house to house on the night of Thursday (1/11), made inquiries and conducted searches. Seven persons who were unable to establish their identity were taken into custody along with another ten who were evading arrest. Another seven men, who were illicit arrack dealers were also arrested.
The search operation was conducted in 110 houses and those arrested were produced before the Gampaha magistrate yesterday.
